I live in Manchester and listened to the Radio 4 programme on today regarding the history of Hulme. Its a fascinating story and inspired me to do some more research and read about people's stories. This has been a great place to start!

I am writing about my time spent in Hulme between 1960 -1965. We lived at 24 Stamford Street. It was during this period that Hulme was being torn down and the people being moved out of the area so they could build the concret jungle of crescents. I recall the bombed houses - How could anyone forget them! - these were the places we played in, or scoured for the scrap metal or wood for the fire. I went to St Winfred's junior school. I'd like to hear from anyone who recalls theire time in and around Hulme between those dates. Contact tommyrattigan@yahoo.co.uk

Went to Bangor St in the 60s,along with Kenny Clark,Alan Salmon,Jimmy Pope,Harry Baguley,Harry Rivers, and if memory serves correctly our teachers were Mr Hall[snudge]Mr Hardy,Mr McFarland,Mr Milne[ who was the art teacher ]cant recall who the woodwork teacher was,but i do vividly recall him banishing Terry Brown, from ever going near a mallet, after his interpretation of being a drummer.
Anyone who remembers me can contact me at mellordavid@hotmail.co.uk........cheers.....Dave
